VIA Marketing forum in association with ONE Foundation (a youth enrichment initiative) organized a seminar on ‘Innovation – Let’s make it happen’ by Mr. Deepak Menaria on Saturday, 13th July’13 at VIA Hall, Udyog Bhavan, Nagpur.
The Speaker, Mr. Deepak Menaria, Founder – ONE Foundation (former AVP-HR, Global Logic India Pvt. Ltd) is known more as a Catalyst – Idea changer – Innovative person. His deep down passion to bring out the best in Talent made him sacrifice his lucrative corporate career and start a NGO that works around youth enrichment & employability. Additionally his keenness to do something new and innovative led him to IIM-Ahmedabad, where he pursued higher studies in Innovations Management and Creativity.
The session was to make people aware about the vast platform that Innovation offers. The session was optimally designed to suit audiences from different backgrounds and experiences. ‘Parents kill the very creativity in a child’ – where the onset remarks made by the speaker. It shook the audience initially but later on he passively led them to its natural facts. He enlightened the basic concept about Innovation at work and by distinguishing Creativity from Innovation. The speaker, along with the technical correlations to their success has quoted many real life examples such as Kodak, Nano, Cirque de saliel, I-pod, Apple, South West Airline , Procter & Gamble, Facebook, Naukri.com, BPO Shaadi.com and many more. He used them as a case study to learn from and to be implemented in day-to-day business/ work.
Since innovation requires a bent of mind to think out of the box and take efforts to apply them, Mr. Menaria made a strong suggestion to imbibe it as a part of the course curriculum right from schooling. Looking at the technical fragmentations of this subject, he said that Incidental innovations attributes luck factor, while deliberate innovations requires study and planning.
He strongly feels that there exist gaps between accepting the unusual subject like ‘Innovation’ to those, which is already a part of the course curriculum since ages. He shared his sour experiences of having interacted with the faculties of many engineering and MBA institutions and felt that the very alma-matter is not yet open to newer ideas or experimentation. He felt a dire need to make the teachers aware before educating students. ‘If education institutes do not rise upto the benchmarks set by the industry, what are students to be blamed for!’ quotes Mr. Menaria compassionately.
He plans to conduct more such awareness sessions for students, professionals and young talents who wish to do unique and fruitful than the usual. He is open to meet new and young minds to explore with them the future possibilities on Innovation and asks to connect with him menaria@yahoo.com.
Mr. Rohit Agrawal (Secratary – VIA), Mr. Sanjay Arora (Chairman – VIA Marketing forum), Mr. Akash Agrawal (Treasure – VIA) and Ms. Shikha Khare (Conveyner – VIA) were also present during the session.
